You can implement pricing
changes in Advanced Precision Estimating in two general
ways:
1. Implementing gradual change in the
original version of your catalog. If you need to modify
pricing information on a regular basis this may be your
best approach.
2. Using definitive catalog versioning for monthly/quarterly/yearly
pricing changes. If your organization only modifies
prices at certain points in your fiscal year it may
be beneficial to use a versioning approach instead.
Lets say for example you need to keep pricing information
for 2001, but you have to implement pricing for 2002.
By selecting Actions, Copy Item from the Catalogs view
you can copy the catalog and all item information. Rename
the new catalog to 2002 and implement the pricing changes.
Depending on your business needs, you may wish to implement
a combination of both approaches.
Implementing estimate
change control
Estimate versioning is made simple in
Advanced Precision Estimating. When a modification needs
to be made, but you do not wish to change the original
estimate you can copy the estimate by choosing Actions,
Copy Item. Rename the estimate's reference number and
make the necessary modifications.
Finding Estimates quickly
It may be beneficial to set up a standard
naming convention for reference numbers in estimates
and use the Find features of the software. You can also
use this standard naming convention for estimate versions
(such as I-111-1 where the last 1 would represent a
version number) and use it to bring back all versions
by entering I-111-* in the Find box.
